Growing!

Our little man is doing GREAT!!!! He grew 2 oz a day last week, that is almost a pound in a week! (Four times what he needed to grow) He is up to 9 lb 6 oz, right where he needs to be. God is so good!

I am getting over a cold right now. I am learning how difficult it is to take care of yourself when someone else needs you to take care of them. Mike has been able to help out more this week with Andrew which is a blessing because I just don't have a ton of energy. I think my cold is getting better so I have that to look forward to.

We hit to road tomorrow to drive to Albuquerque, MN. The drive is not that long and Andrew does very well in the car so I am looking forward to the trip. Despite my cold it has been a good week in Colorado and I am sad to leave this beautiful state.

Father's Day

Baylor University: Waco Texas

Last Monday Andrew and I met up with Mike and Worldview Academy at Baylor University in Waco Texas. It was good to be together as a family again but it was also a pretty difficult week as well.

We have been struggling with Andrew's weight for the past few weeks. (I didn't really want to post about it until it was under control...) He is suppose to grow 1/2 oz to 1 oz per day. Two weeks ago we discovered that he had not grown a single oz in an entire week. We then put Andrew on formula for 48 hours to see if it was a digestion issue. After 48 hours he had gained 5 oz! That was great news! So I beefed up my caloric intake and we went another week to see if that helped him gain any weight. After that week he gained just under the 1/2 oz a day. I was pretty frustrated because not only was Andrew not growing well, feeding time became a fight between him and I. Also, because he was not eating well my milk production was going down which was very stressful! By the middle of the night on Thursday I was ready to give up breast feeding... but we stuck with it and by Friday evening he was eating MUCH better.

Andrew never really gave me many hunger signs so I fed him about every 3 hours.
I think he was just use to being hungry so he didn't give me signs more than that. He is now giving me signs of hunger and he is eating all the time and getting chunkier (He just grew out of his pjs!) I think he is making up for lost time! So all is well and life is much less stressful. God is good!

Week with Aunt Jenny

This pic was taken the day Aunt Jenny and Cousin Eden came to Texas and the day before Grandma Lane left to go back to Oregon.

Eden is "holding" Andrew, with the help of Jenny of course!

We went swimming at our apartment's pool during the week, Eden just loved it!

When Andrew is going to sleep and I put his pacifier in he sometimes holds onto my hand so I wont let go, it's very cute!

Aunt Jenny and cousin Eden's visit

Aunt Jenny and Cousin Eden came to visit us this week. For the first couple of days Eden didn't really want to have anything to do with Andrew, but she has begun to warm up to him.

I just lay my hands under Andrew's feet and he pushes against them to push himself forward. I don't know if baby's are suppose to do this at 3 weeks old but Andrew loves to move and wiggle and get himself in all different positions.

Andrew has such a strong neck that he can move his head from side to side on tummy time.

Andrew's week with Grandma Lane

Grandma Lane came to Texas to visit on Sunday, May 31st. That is also the day that Mike left for Oklahoma for Worldview Academy. This week has been good, we have been getting out more than we had in the last couple of weeks which has made this weeks more "normal".

Mike surprised us and came home on Wednesday evening and stayed until Friday early morning. It was very good to have him home, but Thursday while he was here was a hard day. Andrew was having a hard time getting to sleep for most of the day and by the evening I just about had it hearing him cry. I am glad Mike was here to help, but it was also hard knowing that he couldn't enjoy Andrew like we had the past few days when he was sleeping better and having good awake time.

Grandma Lane has been having a ton to fun playing with Andrew and helping him explore the things around him.

We found out that Andrew likes tummy time. This position has also allowes Andrew to work on his neck muscles as he lifts his head to look around.

Andrew has this funny face he makes where he puckers his lips and looks around with wide eyes. It is my favorite look right now! Mike was imitating him and they looked exactly alike! I couldn't really capture Andrew's look on camera but here is a pic of Mike doing it and Andrew kind of doing it. So cute!
